When you bring local foods into your cafeteria, you’re supporting the community from the ground up! Not only are you serving the freshest, healthiest possible foods to your students, you’re also supporting family farms and boosting the rural economy.
Here in North Carolina, there’s an added financial incentive for schools like yours to go local! Through the USDA’s Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program, participating districts are receiving funds specifically earmarked for the purchase of local foods. These funds are meant to help purchase foods from small businesses and farms, which is exactly what we represent as your farm to school partners!
Plus, healthy foods that improve child nutrition is what we’re all about!
