ByWay Foods is a mission-driven, non-profit enterprise.
When you buy ByWay Foods Products, you can be confident that your purchase supports expanding markets for small farmers, living wage jobs, investment in our rural downtown, hands-on nutrition education for kids, and climate-friendly regional sourcing.
And we couldn’t do it without our community partners
We work with partners throughout our food shed to make fresh, local produce and pasture-raised meats accessible throughout our region. This includes schools, other food hubs, childcare centers, senior centers, faith-based groups, tribal communities, community development groups and of course, local farms.
We source from family farms in Warren County and the surrounding region to supply our food programs. These farmers share our interest in growing a stronger regional food system: fostering resilient connections among producers and consumers of food. Whenever these nearby farms can supply us, we buy from them; when they can’t, we source from further afield. We place a priority on helping small farm operations—especially minority-owned farms—grow to serve our customers. The farms we work with range from tiny (less than one acre) to many times larger.
The Bigger Picture
ByWay is a venture of Working Landscapes, a nonprofit rural development organization based in Warren County, NC. Founded by a Warren County native and her husband, our small organization is dedicated to advancing healthy and sustainable livelihoods in our rural, economically-distressed region.
At Working Landscapes, we know that our food system won’t change overnight, but we have to start somewhere. ByWay Foods is a proud part of that beginning.
